Hundred-word CV?
I moved to London in 2014. Originally from Egypt I moved to Seattle after I graduated to work for Microsoft. Six years later I returned to Egypt also working for Microsoft for a further few years before starting an IT consulting business. Following the 2011 revolution In Egypt, I moved to the UK. I met my wife in Portugal four years ago and just over a year ago our daughter was born. She hears three different languages – it will be interesting to see which becomes her mother tongue.
Fun Facts?
I’m a foodie and crazy about travel. I dream of entering MasterChef or Race Across the World.
Why Privalgo?
I was in consulting but I wanted to move to the client side to build and own something long term. After a few interviews and intriguing discussions with the founders, Privalgo was definitely the most interesting option. I started on the day the Privalgo office opened, so I’m proud to say I’ve been there for most of the journey.
Your Role?
I am the system architect, manage the development team and support our in-house built solutions. We are a global team split between three countries and in our case this is advantage as we nearly always have someone working.
Best Achievement?
We have built a huge, scaleable and robust system nearly from scratch in a year and a half, complete with a modular modern architecture. We have achieved in three years what similar size companies take decades to complete. I’m very proud of how we consistently add value to the business, building regular additions to the system with almost no down time.
The Future?
The sky’s the limit. At the moment we’re fully focused on our customers accessing a system that fully satisfies all their FX and payments needs. Long term there is so much more we can do with AI, Big Data, and BlockChain. I would love to leverage these technologies – some of which have not been rolled out in our industry – to help grow Privalgo’s capabilities,
